A car is a very valuable asset for any individual and for it to be in its top shape at all times, it is important that the exhaust system of your car is in good working condition as well. Apart from driving out the useless gases out of your car, it performs other tasks as well it also maintains the average of your vehicle. Thus, in short this system is essential for your car to be in excellent condition at all times.

The exhaust system of any car is made up of several parts and they are listed as below:

Exhaust Pipe:

This part can be observed in the exterior side of the car, these pipes perform the task of filtering all the harmful and unwanted gases out of your car. The gases are thrown out of the car through the tail pipe. The gas is emitted from the engine, it goes further to the exhaust manifold and then finally it is passed on the engine tail pipe. Such pipes are commonly made from steel, aluminium or metal.

Exhaust Manifold:

These pipes are connected to the posterior end of the car, this is the pipe which primarily comes in the contact with all the heated gases and from here on the gases are passed further. Because it is the first pipe to come in contact with all the gases it gets heated up and reaches high temperatures. It also helps in utilizing the fuel that the engine is not able to burn. This pipe is commonly made of cast iron, stainless steel or aluminum.

Mufflers:

This part is included inside the system, hence it is not visible on the exterior side of the car. Muffler main purpose is to reduce the noise of the engine, the gases also pass through the muffler before reaching the tail pipe. It is actually the mufflers that use the unutilized  fuel to reduce the noise levels in the car.

Oxygen Sensor:

Oxygen sensors have been introduced only some time back, hence in the system of recent car models these are found. It's main function is the maintain the level of oxygen inside the exhaust system.

Tail Pipe:

This is the last part of the whole exhaust system, it is from here that the gases are released from the car.
